Carlos Castañeda is a commercial photographer based in Mexico City. Since a very young age, he found his way around any kind of image making process: Drawing, clay modeling, graffiti and even as a tattoo artist.

He made his career studies as a Graphic Designer, where he quickly became very interested in digital media such as Motion Graphics, retouching, video, and audio production and his most fulfilling activity these days: Photography.

He leads a production studio for almost 15 years, creating all kinds of commercial work for clients around the globe mainly from Mexico, USA, Canada and Australia. This includes over 70 magazine covers.

Photoshop and Photography – Featuring Natalie Louise

Self Portrait Artist Natalie first picked up a ‘proper’ camera at the grand old age of 13. She started photographing her friends with lots of black eyeliner looking ‘angsty’ while she tried to find her creative style. She continued to play with film cameras through her late teens, but wasn’t producing anything particularly mind-blowing.

She finally went digital in her 20’s and discovered Photoshop in 2005. This changed everything. A plethora of possibilities opened up and she soon realized that with a few hours and a little imagination she could create a fantasy world that she couldn’t create in-camera alone. She spent hours watching YouTube tutorials and practicing new techniques; from simple skin and beauty retouching through to complex compositing, she absorbed it all.

Not having a budget for models, she started taking self-portraits instead. Turning herself into everything from Norse Goddesses to Faeries trapped in jars. She got tonnes of questions from social media asking how she created these images and decided to start filming the process for her YouTube channel. She captures behind the scenes footage of the shot right through the editing process to the final image. She doesn’t see herself stopping creating self-portraits anytime soon, and hopes to one day develop a career in Photography and Retouching.

Karen Vermeulen
Featured Artist – Karen Vermeulen

Karen was born in Canada where she lived for five years until her parents decided to go back to Belgium.
In her teens, she took art classes (painting/drawing) for several years at the Academy of Roeselare.
Karen followed a course to become a professional Photographer and ran a small photographer’s shop for 30 years together with her husband.
She took one of the first Photoshop courses ever given in Belgium but has since learned most of it by herself spending most of the time retouching and refining communion and baptism pictures/cards.

As an early pensioner, she can now finally do what she loves to do most, inventing, creating collages.

Her greatest passion is thinking out the concept,  collecting and taking the necessary photo’s and working on the composition itself.
She finds inspiration in her environment, dogs, nature, fairytales, and stories.
In her style photography and painting come together in digital art.
She sees her work as playing and her computer as her playground.
