Featured Artist – Daniel Castonguay
Daniel Castonguay is a street photographer based in Montreal, Canada. In the early 80’s he started working in a dark room making conventional prints. In order to add a moody style to his work he decided to go beyond straight printing and used different techniques such as paper masking, diffusion, dodging, burning, multiple exposure and the Sabattier effect (solarization).
Nowadays, in the digital era, Daniel is processing his work in Photoshop the same way he was in the 80’s. As he says, “ Today, Photography is way more cost effective than it was since no physical material is involved such as filters, papers, chemicals and the lab location itself, but the editing technique remained.”
